BIGBANG’s Taeyang is in hot water with BTS's ARMY over a Comment On K-pop's Global Rise…… the comment escalated the question "Who Paved The Way?"

BTS and BIGBANG fanbases clashed over Taeyang's comment on who paved the way for the global rise of the K-pop industry. BIGBANG's contribution to the global rise of K-pop can’t be denied, as they were beginners in the K-pop wave. But the statement made him the centre of arguments and hate comments, as other fandoms have different opinions.

What happened?

While sharing his thoughts in an interview with CNN, BIGBANG’s Taeyang said they were thankfully able to open doors for K-pop on global platform, as the interview aired many BTS fans (BTS army) reacted in opposition by saying BTS was the one who did that.

In the Interview Taeyang said, "Thankfully, we were able to open doors to global markets for many K-pop bands that came after us. And they can perform on world stages. I wouldn't say we presented that, but it feels great that our efforts have played a part in that."

And his comment has Stirred up a heated debate on social media between BTS's Army and BIGBANG's V.I.Ps.

Taeyang’s remark received a lot of reactions from BTS' fanbase on his social media account. Where ARMY commented, "BTS paved the way." Many fans felt that BTS are the ones who actually paved the way for K-pop and made it famous more than ever. Some said Taeyang should have credited BTS too, as their efforts in Kpop’s global success are prominent. They were upset with the statement, as a result, displeased army, flooded Taeyang’s Instagram with comments like "BTS paved the way."

Who is BIGBANG and BTS?

BIGBANG is a South Korean second-generation boy band debuted as a five-member band under YG Entertainment actively participating in K-pop industry since 2006. Presently the group had 3 members: Taeyang, G-Dragon and Daesung.

Where BTS also known as the Bangtan Boys is a seven-member boyband under BigHit Music label. The band consists of Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. BTS debuted in 2013, years after BIGBANG.

The BTS fans are estimated to be around 90 million, the estimated number is from their followers on social media platforms Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.

BTS’ SUGA and Jimin, even acknowledged their contribution and accepted that BIGBANG played a significant role in shaping K-pop. Even though social media looks like a war zone where both fandoms are engaged in a fierce battle on "Who paved the way?"
