With the beginning of the New Year, the season of Awards has also begun in Hollywood with the 82nd edition of the Golden Globe Awards. The awards ceremony was organised at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on January 5.

The Golden Globe Awards are known for their influence on the upcoming Academy Awards (Oscars) and other major film and TV accolades. The ceremony included live performances, celebrity appearances, and announcement of winners in various categories including, Best Motion Picture, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Television Series.

The award show was hosted by the famous stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser.

Adrien Brody won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture and took home his First Golden Globe award.

Jacques Audiard's "Emilia Pérez" received the most nominations (10) for any movie in categories from acting, directing, writing and music, and won for best musical or Comedy and best original song.

The Indian director Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light was left disappointed. Though Kapadia’s drama film received two nominations under Non-English Language Motion Picture and Best Director of a Motion Picture, it failed to get any awards. The drama lost to the Spanish drama Emilia Perez (France) in the Best Non-English language motion picture.

All We Imagine as Light is a 2024 drama film written and directed by Payal Kapadia. The story is woven around the two nurses Prabha and Anu living together in Mumbai.
