Blackpink Rosé, Bruno Mars' APT broke the legendry K-pop sings PSY’s Gangnam Style12 year-old record on YouTube, and Won the Song of Year at Asia Awards 2024.
The pop-punk, APT was released on October 18, 2024, as the lead single from Rosé's debut studio album, Rosie (2024). And soon, it emerged as number 1 on Billboard too.
What is Apt?
"Apt." song was inspired by the Korean local
drinking game of the same name, which is often played by people at parties and in their free time in their apartments, just like truth or dare in Korea. The
song's lyrics include the Korean pronunciation "apateu" (아파트), which means "apartment".
The song's chorus is chanting the phrase "apateu apateu", stacking
hands and calling out numbers. Each player takes turns pulling their hand out
from the bottom of the stack and puts it on top. The player who moves their
hand to the top for the number called out loses and has to take a shot of drink
as a penalty.
Billboard top 10
After the release, the song ‘APT’ has reached even greater heights. It is at the number 10 spot on the Billboard Radio Songs chart from the sixth week, and under Billboard top 20 in January's first week, adding more fame to Rose’s successful career. She became the first-ever female K-pop artist to reach a top 10 spot on the Radio Songs chart.
